Do you care where your meat comes from?

Cattle on a feedlot

This picture is why I started raising beef. It's why I can't bring myself to buy meat at the grocery store anymore.

Because I know too much.

I know the conditions under which 95% of the beef in the US gets to the grocery store. In factory farms across the Midwest, cattle are fattened up with corn, antibiotics, and growth hormones.

This is big business. Ever wonder why a pound of ground beef at Walmart is so cheap? It's not magic. It's factory farms.

The conditions are not humane. The cattle are a commodity.

I stopped buying beef at the supermarket. And I started raising my own - on our Maine pastures.

It's important to know where your food comes from. There are choices you can make.

I invite you to come visit our farm and see our cattle. You'll find it doesn't look at all like the picture above.

It looks like this:

Grass fed beef on our Maine pastures

These are our cattle, enjoying a beautiful summer day in Maine - on open pasture with beautiful red clover. No antibiotics. No growth hormones.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. The contrast between the two pictures is more than I can ever explain with words.
