Do you trust where your meat comes from?

By Dan Kaplan

Do you trust where your meat comes from?

I read a study the other day that said only 33% of consumers trust the source of their meat.

I was surprised it was so many folks - why would anyone who buys meat at the grocery store trust where it comes from?

For instance - when it comes to beef...

  • Over 80% of the antibiotics used in the US are used on cattle, pigs, and chicken to promote growth
  • Over 97% of beef in the US comes out of feedlots where they are confined in inhumane conditions and fed corn and grain.
  • 75-80% of beef labeled “100% grassfed” in the US is imported (even though it can legally be labeled “Product of USA” because some processing was done in a USDA-inspected plant in the US!)
  • Over 85% of the beef processed in the US is controlled by just four companies - and two of the four companies are foreign-owned

I started raising beef cattle almost 10 years ago - because I love beef - and I could not stomach the idea of eating meat that came from factory farms.

I wanted my family to still to be able to enjoy steaks and burgers - but without all the bad stuff.

Ten years later, I'm proud to say we're offering hundreds of customers a choice.

We appreciate your support - and your trust,
