We pack and ship your order frozen direct from our farm in Maine. All of our packaging can be composted or recycled (no styrofoam). Until we pack your box, our meat is kept in our freezers (at 0 degrees). We use ice blankets and dry ice to keep your precious meat super cold during its trip to you. Our packing team (our neighbors) like to say they are packing every order like it's going to their "favorite aunt."

Q: Can I make substitutions?

With our Maine Box, because we sell so many, we keep the contents consistent - and so we can not make substitutions. You can, of course, buy cuts a la carte.

Q: Can I add other items to my order?

Of course! Many customers will stock up on pork and chicken at the same time as they are ordering a Maine Box.

Q: Do I need a separate freezer for a Maine Box?

We designed the Maine Box for families who don’t have a separate freezer - and it will fit nicely into your refrigerator freezer - with room left over for your favorite ice cream.

Q: How long will the meat last in my freezer?

Your beef will be good for 6-12 months - depending on how frequently you open up the door to your freezer.

What do we mean by 100% Grass Fed?

Our beef is 100% grass fed and grass finished. That means our cattle only eat grass. No corn, no grain, no animal by products -just grass.

In the growing season, they feed on the pastures of our 500 acre farm. In the winter, they eat the hay (grass) we harvested from our fields in the summer.

Beware of supermarket beef labeled "grass fed." Most factory-farmed, supermarket beef is fed grain (mainly corn) in the last few months before slaughter (even when it’s labeled “grass-fed”). While grain will fatten cattle up quickly, it can also make them sick because grains are not their natural feed.

That's why knowing the farmer who raised your meat is so important.

When we say 100% grass fed we mean 100%.

Our Maine Box has been enormously popular. I think it’s such a convenient size - it’s close to the same as buying a ⅛ cow share - which we don’t happen to sell. A great, convenient, reasonably priced box for a family or a couple.
